Socio-religious Practices of Kalang Shaman: Symbol of Minority People's Resistance in Indonesia

Three possibilities can occur when religion enters a society already having its own culture and traditions: acceptance, rejection, adjustment. This study analyzed the socio-religiosity of Kalang people, minority ethnic group in Kendal, following arrival Islam into their lives. Highlighting how they practiced worship presented identity majority Muslim society, research was focused on socio-religious practices Dukun as representation people unveiled her critical roles socio-cultural system, such leading every ritual activity, being source knowledge about teachings other mystical information ancestral spirits.
